Disgraced former governor Andrew Cuomo is trying to launch a pre-emptive strike against one of his accusers. The Democrat, who allegedly sexually harassed multiple women while governor of New York, has subpoenaed five women as part of his defense against a sixth.

Andrew Cuomo served as Governor of New York from 2011 to 2021. During that time, 11 women claimed he harassed or assaulted them. Finally, with state legislators beginning the process to impeach him and even President Biden calling on him to step down, he resigned on August 23, 2021. Now, he’s facing a federal lawsuit brought by a New York state trooper, who says Cuomo touched her inappropriately while she worked on his security detail — but he’s pushing back. Since late March, his legal team has sent subpoenas to Lindsey Boylan, Virginia Limmiatis, Brittany Commisso, Ana Liss and Alyssa McGrath, who have all accused him of harassment as well.
His former bodyguard — known only as Trooper 1 — alleges that his behavior toward her was part of a pattern of harassment. He has a habit of using subpoenas to weaken the case against him. So far, he’s issued them to New York Attorney General Letitia James and the state assembly. Both have refused to cooperate, and a decision is pending on those. Cuomo has also threatened to subpoena other state troopers from his protective detail.
One alleged victim’s attorney isn’t happy at Cuomo’s latest move. Julie Gerchik, who’s representing Lindsey Boylan, says her client has already taken part in two investigations of Cuomo and slammed the former governor for dragging her into a third, saying it shows he “has no qualms about continuing his harassment.” Cuomo’s legal team hit back, saying subpoenas are routine. Whether Cuomo is trying to pressure his accusers or not, though, it’s clear he plans to keep fighting to repair his reputation.
