Fox News never gave a reason for why it fired Tucker Carlson.
Details continue to trickle out.
And Fox News fired Tucker Carlson because of one secret phone call.
Tucker Carlson was the most prominent voice in the media opposing Joe Biden’s war with Russia in Ukraine.
Carlson attacked the Ukrainian government as corrupt and authoritarian and that the war put America at risk of nuclear conflict with Russia.
Polls showed a growing number of Republicans – a majority in some cases – oppose sending U.S. taxpayer money and weapons to Ukraine.
Now it appears Carlson’s opposition to the war in Ukraine may have played a role in his ouster.
Semafor reported that weeks before Fox News Chairman Rupert Murdoch fired Carlson Murdoch spoke with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
In a viral video posted to social media 48 hours after his firing, Carlson hinted that his opposition to the war in Ukraine led to Fox News canceling him.
“In five years, we won’t even remember that we had them. Trust me as someone who’s participated. And yes, at the same time, and this is the amazing thing, the undeniably big topics, the ones that will define our future, get virtually no discussion at all: War, civil liberties, emerging science, demographic change, corporate power, natural resources,” Carlson began.
“When was the last time you heard a legitimate debate about any of those issues,” Carlson continued. “It has been a long time. Debates like that are not permitted in American media.”
This reporting dovetails with an exclusive from Breitbart where insiders said Carlson’s firing was part of a plan by Murdoch to pivot Fox News to being a pro-establishment network again.
There is no way Carlson would play ball with that editorial mandate so it looks like Murdoch fired him.
