Joe Biden is trying to make Americans’ lives miserable to combat climate change.
He’s outsourced his agenda to extreme environmental groups.
But James Comer put Joe Biden on notice over this infuriating environmental scheme.
President Joe Biden is trying to enact sweeping changes to eliminate the use of anything powered by fossil fuels.
His regime found itself in the middle of a controversy after a bureaucrat let the cat out of the bag that a ban on gas stoves was on the table.
An official with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CSPC) said in an interview that a ban on gas stoves was possible because of alleged health hazards they pose.
CPSC Commissioner Richard Trumka Jr. told Bloomberg News that “any option is on the table” for gas stoves and “products that can’t be made safe can be banned.”
Intense backlash caused the Biden regime to publicly back away from the ban but the Department of Energy quietly proposed new energy efficiency standards that would make 96% of current gas stoves in non-compliance.
Biden’s environmental policy is driven by radical environmental groups that he’s handed over his agenda to.
Now, Rep. James Comer (R-KY) and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) are trying to get to the bottom of Biden’s coordination with environmental groups in the proposed gas stove ban.
The Republican lawmakers said that the Biden regime and environmental groups were running a “hidden pressure campaign.”
Letters were sent from the lawmakers to the Climate Imperative Foundation (CIF), Consumer Reports, Rewiring America, and Windward Fund, asking for information about their contact with the regime over the proposed gas stove ban.
Cruz identified CIF as a financier behind a number of groups that called for gas stoves to be banned.
Consumer Reports, a consumer advocacy group, received a $375,000 grant for research that was used to produce an article titled, “Is Your Gas Range a Health Risk?”
CIF Executive Director Bruce Nilles helped write a 2019 article titled, “Your Gas Stove Is Bad for You and the Planet: To help solve the climate crisis, we need to electrify everything.”
CIF also gave $300,000 to the United States Public Interest Research Group (PIRG) in 2021 before the group hosted Trumka Jr. in an event where he called for banning gas stoves.
“We need to be talking about regulating gas stoves, whether that is drastically improving emissions, or banning gas stoves entirely,” Trumka Jr. said at the event. “And I think we ought to keep that possibility of a ban in mind as we follow along, because it’s a powerful tool in our toolbox. It’s a real possibility.”
Comer could use his subpoena powers as chair of the House Oversight Committee if the groups don’t comply with the request for their communications.
It certainly appears a web of radical environmental groups could be the driving force behind Joe Biden’s scheme to ban gas stoves.
